Teacher-directed Play

What is it?

In teacher-directed play, the educator determines the literacy goals, structure, and outcome of the activity, guiding children through a planned learning experience. The educator selects the materials, establishes the rules or procedures, and directs how children engage with the activity, with children actively participating within the educator-defined framework. Teacher-directed activities can be used to explicitly teach and reinforce specific literacy skills in an engaging and interactive manner.
