Roll a Die, Match the..

Students roll the die and match the letters/words on the die to letters/words on the cards. Possible matching combinations: 

• Upper case and lower case 
• Picture and starting/ending letter sound 
• Rhyming words 
• Compound words 

• Set up appropriate matches for students’ skill level and practice needs Support students in turn-taking and engaging in the activity 
• Extend the activity by adding new cards to match 
• Ask students to generate other matches that are not on the given cards 
• Repeat the students’ answers for reinforcement 
• Remind students to “stretch out the words” that require segmenting 

• Dice with covered sides, 1 letter/image/word choice on each side 
• Cards with letter/word/image that match the dice sides
