Reveal the Letter

Students place a tactile letter card under the paper and colour the paper to reveal the letter. Students name the letter and/or the letter sound after revealing the letter. 

• Listen to students as they name the letter and/or the letter sound to determine if support or extension is needed 
• Prompt students to trace the letter with their finger or draw it in the air to practice letter formation 
• Extend the activity by having students print their letter on the paper 
• Model suspense while waiting to reveal the letter and enthusiasm when the full letter appears on the sheet 

• Tactile letters (can make these easily using sandpaper) 
• Paper 
• Pencil crayons or crayons
