- In small groups or at a writing table, display images or photographs to inspire writing.
- Images can include clouds, animals or other objects that students will recognize to write about.
- Different books can also be placed out for students to choose a picture.
- Once students have chosen a picture or image, encourage them to write about what they see.
- After writing, have students draw a picture that matches what they wrote.
- As an extension: ask students to label their pictures using words and arrows.
