Sticky Note Labelling

Give each student a sticky note and invite them to choose something in the classroom to label.  

• Observe to determine if support or extension is needed 
• Begin by having students label items using only the first sound, ask questions such as “What sound do you hear at the beginning?”
• Extend learning by encouraging students to sound out and write more of the word, ask questions such as “Can you hear another sound in that word?”  
• Extend learning by encouraging students to challenge themselves by choosing unique classroom items or labelling more than one object.
