STEM Design Challenge

STEM Design Challenge

Learning Goals: STEM, Structures, Spatial Sense

    • Develop a "Design Challenge" that students can work to solve

    • Use various materials to solve a problem as a team

      • Examples: Use popsicle sticks, pasta, and play dough to make a structure that will support a small toy car; make a structure that will keep an egg safe from a fall; create a boat that floats on water using recycled materials

    • Have groups share their creations with the class and encourage them to communicate their thought process and ideas.

We are the Play Learning Lab, run by Dr. Angela Pyle at the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto.
