Sight Word Trivia

Sight Word Trivia

Learning Goal: Sight Word Recognition, Literacy, Turn Taking

    • The educator divides students into two groups.
    • The educator then holds up a card with a sight word written on it, and one member of the team raises their hand to read the word.
    • If it is incorrect, the educator provides guidance for why it was incorrect, and allows the other team to try reading the word.
    • Whichever team gets the most sight words wins.
    • Can be played as whole group or small group.

We are the Play Learning Lab, run by Dr. Angela Pyle at the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto.
