Rhyming with Names

Learning Goals: Phonological Awareness, Rhyming

    • Begin by introducing your students to the rhyming game.
    • How it works:
      • The teacher says: “I say (a word that rhymes with a student’s name”.
      • Then, students should reply saying: “You say (student’s name that rhymes with the word)”.
    • To extend the activity, the teacher or student(s) can write the rhyming words on a white board.

We are the Play Learning Lab, run by Dr. Angela Pyle at the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto.
