Phonetic Sounds Game

Learning Goals: Literacy, Teacher-Directed Game, Phonemic Awareness

    •  In a group of students, ask students what sound the first letter of their name makes.

    • Ask them what would happen if they replaced it with another sound. What would their name sound like?

    • Educator can use a whiteboard to indicate Letter-Sound Correspondance.

    • This is a quick game that can take place during snack time, or when children are in transitions.

We are the Play Learning Lab, run by Dr. Angela Pyle at the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto.
