Patterning Play

Learning Goals: Patterning, Creativity, Teacher Supported, Abstract Thinking

Provide students with empty containers or items of differing colours.

Create a pattern as an example.

Encourage students to make their own pattern.
Any type of empty container/ object in different colours (empty lipstick tubes, coloured gems, beads)
The educator created the learning centre with a specific goal in mind; to introduce patterning.

Within this centre, the children decided what pattern to create and how they would use the materials while the educator interacted with the children to support and extend their thinking.
