Paper Bag Probability

Paper Bag Probability

Learning Goals: Math, Data Management, Probability, Number Sense

    • Pose a probability question to students, such as: "If we have 4  purple cubes and 2 green cubes in a bag, is it likely or unlikely to pick a green cube?"
    • Pick out of the bag 10 times, and record which cube is pulled using tallies on chart paper.
    • Students can be encouraged to guess which cube will be pulled out each time.
    • Students can play in partners and rotated who chooses the item and who records the tally.

Two of any small material could work for this activity!
