Magnetic Letters

Magnetic Letters

Learning Goals: Literacy, Alphabet, Reading, Phonological Awareness, Writing

    • Create a bag of high-frequency or sight words and have students take turns pulling out a word.

    •  Students should then place the printed word card on a magnetic board and use magnetic letters to spell out that word.

    • Extensions include: Having the students read the word aloud and instructing them to write the word on a board with either chalk or whiteboard markers.

We are the Play Learning Lab, run by Dr. Angela Pyle at the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto.
