Marble Run

Learning Goals: Child-Directed Play, Spatial Reasoning, Problem-Solving, Hand/ Eye Coordination, Observation and Testing

    • Provide students with marble run pieces to create structures.

    • Encourage them to explore building a marble run to test out how the marbles move through it.

    • The educator can provide marble when the child is ready to test their structure.

    • Play can be extended into a variety of inquiry trajectories from building successful marble runs to measuring speed of marbles.

We are the Play Learning Lab, run by Dr. Angela Pyle at the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education/University of Toronto.
