Acorn Number Bonds
Learning Goals: Number Sense, Composing and Decomposing Numbers, Addition
- Place acorns, addition cards, and number bond mats on table.
- If possible, include students in collecting acorns outside!
- Encourage students to take on the role of "Kindergarten Squirrels" who are hiding acorns in different circles.
- Have students flip over an addition card and "hide" each number of acorns in the smaller circles.
- Combine both circles together to see how many acorns make up your squirrel meal!
- As an extension: have students record their addition statements to see all the acorn meals they had!
