Based on student preference (ex. The teacher may survey students privately/as a class) or a topic discussed in class, students decide to create a restaurant centre.

  1. The teacher, together with the students discuss the materials needed for the restaurant centre and they decide which objects they can make as a class. The teacher also asks students on how they would like furniture in the restaurant centre to be arranged.

  2. The teacher brings in materials for students to create menus, signs and money.

  3. During play, students take on various roles in the restaurant such as customers and waiters/waitresses.

** As an extension, the teacher may bring in a variety of food ingredients for students to identify.
